Middle School counselor Kathleen Saucier shared some common sense strategies for parents to help their children deal with bullies-- a growing problem in area schools. Watch the video online here.

These Mariner Middle School guidance counselors and students recently went to Tallahassee to lobby for an anti-bullying bill. Standing in front of the school are, from left, guidance counselor Adria Gonzalez, students Joe Powers, Calvin Hicks, Duane Labbruzzo, Caitlyn Hall, Erik Williams, Lori Nuñez Del Arco, Erin O’Connell and Samantha Sorenson, and guidance counselor Kathy Saucier.

Here is a group photo from the Rally. The event was a huge success, and the Senate voted today (4/27/2007) to accept the House Bill #139, which comes with the funding. Things are not looking as optimistic for Jeff's Bill! With only six days left in the 2007 session, it will take a near miracle to save it. It was bittersweet to learn that Delaware passed the first A++ anti-bullying bill in the nation. You can check it out at www.bullypolice.org

The Delaware Law was created using Jeff's Law as the model, so I least I know that some good has come from all our work. God Bless the members of the Delaware Legislature for placing the safety and well-being of their children first. Florida, on the other hand, will be protected from the sight of thongs or boxer shorts thanks to the efforts of Senator Stephen Wise. Let's all enjoy a big slice of key lime pie courtesy of the Florida Senate which has managed to top even last year in finding something even more trivial and pointless than the debate over a "state dessert!"

Just too frustrated for hugs, Debbie J.

Washington DC trip was fantastic! 50 Students, parents and teachers packed their bags and Jet Blued it to DC in September! Everyone participated in the SPAN Suicide March and attended conferences and speeches and listened to human experiences and had a chance to share their own. It was a wonderful and educational experience for ALL! Thank you to everyone who participated and a HUGE THANK YOU to JET BLUE Airlines!!

"Students for Safer Schools" holds C.A.R.E.S banner in front of Washington Monument!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Poster Project Day! We got so many great shots and had fun while doing it! Thanks, also, to all the people making donations to C.A.R.E.S. It's people like you, that help us do projects like this!
